Anyone for a picnic?
Cheers to picnic season! After a tough and challenging year, it feels amazing to finally be reunited with our loved ones, just in time for the lighter evenings and warmer weather too.
For those of you who are local to Harrogate or North Yorkshire or thinking about visiting the areas, we wanted to put together some suggestions of our favourite places for you to enjoy with your loved ones…
1. The Stray, Harrogate
We couldn’t talk about picnics without including this one!
The Stray is one of Harrogate’s most famous places. With over 200 acres of grass parkland, decorated with long lines of cherry blossom trees, it gives our town a uniquely green and spacious feeling which makes the most perfect location for a picnic. Whether you’re arranging long overdue catchups with friends or need to entertain your children, it’s the perfect spot.
As it’s just a few minutes’ walk from the shops, why not pick up delicious picnic goodies from Harrogate’s amazing eateries like Mama Doreen’s or Betty’s?
2. Malham Cove, Skipton
If you’re wanting a picnic that comes with some magnificent views, this should be at the top of your list. Head over to the Yorkshire Dales and explore Malham National Park Centre and pay a visit to the impressive towering cliff at Malham Cove.
The stunning landscape is perfect for an active afternoon and once you’ve marched up to the top of the Cove, then it’s time to sit back, relax and enjoy your basket of goodies, you’ve earned it and it’s a great experience shared with friends!
3. RHS Garden Harlow Carr, Harrogate
Located along the western side of Harrogate, RHS Garden Harlow Carr is one of four public gardens run by the Royal Horticultural Society. This place is picture-perfect all year long and with 58 amazing acres of gardens to explore, there is plenty of space to set up your picnic and then wander around afterwards.
You could even take a game of boules with you!
4. Burnsall River, Wharfedale
When the sun is shining, we love to drive out to Burnsall for a picnic alongside the river with our basket in tow. There’s something incredibly relaxing about enjoying your favourite food and drink near the water.
This beautiful little village is definitely the more scenic option and has something to offer everyone, and lots of fun for children to play together.
5. Bolton Abbey, Skipton
A firm favourite in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, Bolton Abbey. With over 80 miles to explore, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect place to enjoy a picnic filled with your favourite things.
The stunning, and calming, setting offers a real variety to keep every entertained for hours. Why not take an adventure through the woodland and moorland paths? You could explore the Abbey ruins and conquer the famous steppingstones all before tucking into your picnic.
For us, picnics are #EvenBetterTogether and now is the perfect time to gather up your loved ones and meet at one of these places to share lots of laughter, good food and even better drinks.
Our new canned ranges, Solo and Spritz, mean that you can enjoy Slingsby gin conveniently and deliciously. Cheers to picnic season!
