#EVENBETTERTOGETHER: OUR FAVOURITE HARROGATE EATS!

News

It really does feel wonderful being reunited with our favourite bars and restaurants since the recent restrictions update. How great is it to eat a meal you haven’t had to cook and drink a cocktail that you haven’t had to shake?
Here at Slingsby we love all things Harrogate which is why we couldn’t wait to get those bookings in at our favourite spots. If you’re in the market for some amazing food (where you can even get your Slingsby fix at the same time), then we definitely suggest checking these out for the new group outing.

1. The Fat Badger

If you’re local to Harrogate then you’re guaranteed to know this place, and if you’re not familiar, it should be towards the top of your list. The Fat Badger is a wonderfully British pub that gives you the chance to enjoy some real top-notch food alongside great drinks. They are all prepped for outdoor drinking having recently converted the top floor of their multi-story car park to an open-air dining and drinking area. Complete with 15 weatherproof pods, you can dine rest assured that if rain strikes, there is no need to dash for the closest cover. Book ahead as this is a popular spot!

What to order? You can’t beat the Fat Badger Sunday roast beef dinner.

2. Will & Victoria

Also known as Will and Vic’s…
For a lovely laid-back al fresco dining experience, you can’t beat it here. It’s one of our favourites and you’ll often find Marcus, one of our founders enjoying dinner over a glass of Sauvignon Blanc here! Bringing you the best combination of local produce and quality service, a visit to Will and Vic’s is always guaranteed to please. Having just installed their fantastic newly constructed pergola, ready for the summer season, it’s the perfect spot to catch up with friends over a Slingsby G&T or two.

What to order? Eggs Royale for brunch

3. The Yorkshire Hotel

The team have been hard at work to create something truly special for the easing of lockdown restrictions. The impressive 'Ales in the Dales' is now open for business and you can book a table and enjoy food and drink among rolling hills, trees and even a dry-stone wall in their Yorkshire Dales recreation. The menu from their restaurant the ‘Pickled Sprout’ is packed with hearty favourites and creative dishes and you’ll find an amazing drinks selection. Set in the best people-watching spot in Harrogate, it’s a great way to while away the day after a spot of shopping.

What to order? Selection of small plates. We love the smokey salmon tartare and tempura king prawns.

4. Three’s A Crowd

Here you can expect pub classics with a modern twist, and it’s something special. A visit to Three’s a Crowd is always super relaxed and fun, and even better, they have an outdoor heated terrace and they are dog friendly! You can expect to find a varied menu, with some impressive specials to choose from, all using great quality produce and ingredients. If you’re lucky, you may choose to visit when they’re collaborating with other local restaurants which never disappoints.

What to order? Herb fed chicken with pearl couscous and BBQ baby leek

5. West Park Hotel

You may not be able to treat yourself to an overnight stay at the moment, but if you pop into the restaurant, you will still have an amazing experience at West Park Hotel. With a brand-new seasonal menu to offer as well as a lovely (covered) outdoor seating area, you’ll easily spend hours indulging and laughing the night away with your loved ones here.

Even if you just fancied a G&T or a couple of cocktails, West Park is a really good choice either midweek or on the weekend.

What to order? Black Sheep Beer Battered Haddock

6. The Wild Plum

For a more casual and relaxed outing, The Wild Plum should be at the top of your list. Offering something for everyone in your party, their breakfast, brunch, and lunch menus are looking great.

These guys aren’t actually open until 19th May and aren’t taking bookings, so you’ll need to turn up on the day to bag your spot! We’ll definitely be at the front of the queue…

What to order? The Crazy A-Bao You bao buns
